1975 | Accreditation of various regulated professional associations in the country in compliance with Presidential Decree No. 223, Commissioner Eric Nubla suggested to all Board Examiners and the APOs to bind themselves together for expediency in coordination and cooperation. |
January 28, 1978 | Federation of Professional Associations (FPA) Philippines was formed with General Ceferino S. Carreon as the first Chairman. Objectives of the Federation were identified and its potentials surveyed. |
1979 | The Constitution and By-Laws were approved and the position of Chairman was changed to President under the leadership of atty. Eliseo L. Legaspi, Jr. The Philippine Technological Council was incorporated. |
1980 | President Ferdinand E. Marcos signed Letter of Instruction (LOI) 1000 which orders and directs the PRC and the Government Ministries to authorize and support only PRC accredited professional organizations, and their members to organize, host, sponsor or represent the Filipino professionals here and abroad. |
1981 | The Federation expanded its involvement in the professional and social concerns, including its role in national policies in legislations concerning the profession. The name of the Federation was changed to Philippine Federation of Professional Association (PFPA) and the Council of the Professional Health Associations (COPHA) and the Business and Management Council (BMC) were formed. Joint seminar and participation with the Philippine Association of Board Examiners (PABE) during the Professional Consciousness Week, it asserted its role in national policies in legislations concerning its members, in cooperative programs with other professional groups in the Southeast Asian region, among others. PFPA jointly with the Philippine Technological Council formed a task force to undertake the preparation of the documents entitled “Standard Guidelines on Consulting Services” which was approved and signed by Minister Jesus Hipolito. Adopted the International Code of Ethics on Consulting Services. |
1982 | The first batch of awardees were honored on March 20, 1982 Organization reforms were implemented and the PFPA newsletter was born to enhance the flow of information dissemination among the members. |
1983 | Initiated the formation of the Assembly of Presidents whose objective was to thresh out and resolve major issues affecting the Federation. |
1984 | The proposed Professional Regulatory Code was passed. |
1985 | Membership of the Federation grew to thirty three PRC APOs. |
1986 | The tenure of the Gaitos Administration extended into the takeover of the Aquino administration. The political orientation within the professional organization underwent a disruptive realignment. PFPA was able to continue participating in the Productivity Movements. The PFPA went into vigorous but vain protestation against unqualified government appointees such as the PRC Commissioners, Director of Bureau of Telecommunications and others. The PFPA conducted a “Know your Candidates” conference during the last congressional election. |
1987 | The PFPA’s identify in national scene has been fully recognized. It was not less the President of the Philippine Corazon C. Aquino who made the recognition during the inductions of its officers and directors at Malacanang. PFPA entered the challenging period of top government technocrat at its helm in the person of the Secretary of Public Works and Highways J. Nery Ferrer. |
1988 | Foremost project of PFLA was Most Outstanding Professionals Award of the Year was formed; the first was held on March 26, 1988. |
1989 | The year 1989 marked the first time that the president came from another Council (not from PTC) and as agreed the presidency would be rotated among the councils accordingly. This year advocated the rightful participation of PFPA, the three councils (COPHA, BMC, PTC) and each thirty-three (33) professional associations in government activities. Senate Bill No. 976 entitled “An Act creating a profession licensure and repealing Presidential Decree No. 223, and for other purposes” of Sen. Santanina T. Rasul was supported with amendments. |
1991-1992 | Completing the cycle of rotation for the three (3) councils. |
1993 | The amended Constitution and By-Laws were submitted to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). |
1994-1995 | Engr. Ernesto V. Villanuea (PTC) assumed the Presidency, where amendments to the Constitution and By-Laws were submitted to the SEC. |
1999 | PFPA’s Rotation Policy and soared high to the 3rd and new millennium. |
2005-2006 | The PFPA Excellence Awards was established |
2007 | A new member of PFPA, the Council for the Built and Natural Environments (CBNE) was formed to provide a platform for empowering professionals working in the built and natural environments. |
2011 | 6th PFPA Excellence Awards, Cory C. Aguino Kalayaan Hall, Club Filipino Greenhills, San Juan City. Partnership with Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Week Celebration. |
